Birth and Unintended Pregnancy Statistics - 1998

Summary

This report contains population-based statistics on births, abortions, unintended pregnancies, and subsequent births to Washington women from 1991 to 1996, and includes statistics on Medicaid births. Major sections of this report include methods, state data with charts, and county data tables. State level data includes information on births from unintended pregnancy; and the percent of births to married women, to women with late or no prenatal care, and with low birthweight. Historical data are presented as two year averages; most recent available data are presented in single year columns, with a column of state data for easy comparison. Data sources include the First Steps Database, which links vital statistics with administrative records, official vital statistics and population estimates, and the PRAMS survey data of women giving birth. The First Steps Database is Washington's official database for population-based pregnancy statistics among Medicaid women."
