Vocational Rehabilitation Project
The division of vocational rehabilitation asked us to identify the major reasons for the decline in rehabilitation rates that occurred after the year 2000. We conducted a multivariate analysis of two cohorts of clients, one before and one after the year 2000. We found three major factors for the decline: worse labor markets, more clients with severe disabilities and more persons on disability related economic assistance (SSI and SSDI). Some offices, however, did much better than expected, in spite of these factors. Further analyses will determine whether the high performing offices continue to do better than others in more recent years. Contact: Dario Longhi, Evaluation Director, telephone: (360)902-0734
