Mental Health Ombuds Services

Below is a summary of State Hospital Charges Effective for Services Provided on July 01, 2006 and thereafter.

The first column is the Routine Day Rate that includes nursing, social work, some ancillary services, food preparation, overhead and administrative costs necessary for the operation of the hospital. The other columns indicate the professional rates per Relative Value Unit (RVU) as assigned to each Current Procedure Terminology (CPT) codes published by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. In addition, Excel files are provided that list by CPT code the professional and ancillary fee schedules.

Rates have been calculated in accordance with WAC 388-855-0030, RCW 43-20B.020 and RCW 43.20B.325. Actual rate determination is in accordance with Medicare hospital cost reporting principals and the Medicaid State Plan. The schedule of charges will be updated at a minimum annually. NOTES:
1. State Hospital Charge rates are billed to all available payment resources, including Medicare, Medicaid, and Commercial Insurance Companies. The rates are determined pursuant to WAC 388-855-0030.

2. Prescription Drug Costs are not included in the per diem charge rate in order to comply with Medicare Part D regulations. DSHS has implemented billing Part D at ESH, WSH and PALS, where costs for dispensed prescription drugs will be billed to patients’ drug plans.
