Community Connectors 1-800-446-0259 (ext. 3)
Community Connectors is a statewide network for families of children with emotional, behavioral, or mental health disorders. This network links families and groups together for the purpose of giving support, sharing information and identifying resources in their local communities.
Community Connectors are parents and caregivers raising children with emotional, behavioral, or mental disorders. They focus on increasing family involvement, interaction, and communication within their respective communities.
Community Connectors partner with community level systems such as mental health, schools and social service agencies to develop family friendly policies.
Community Connectors Provide:
- A unique kind of support that only someone raising a child with emotional, behavioral or mental disorders can give
- Assistance with locating services through formal systems to meet identified needs of the family
- Information on community resources
- Assistance with problem-solving issues
- Information on Special Education Regulations.
Other Assistance:
Since Community Connectors are volunteers, the types of assistance they provide varies.
Some will attend meetings with schools and other formal systems with families. Others provide parent support groups, lending libraries, and advocacy.
If you are raising or have raised a child with an emotional, behavioral, or mental disorder and enjoy:
- Providing support and information to families with similar children
- Sharing experiences, resources, and information with others
- Empowering families to assess and problem-solve their needs in their community
