Chemical Dependency Treatment - Not eligible

Revised October 28, 2007

Purpose: To provide information to CSO staff when referring people who are not eligible for any public assistance program (or only food assistance) and who need chemical dependency treatment services.

CLARIFYING INFORMATION

  1. The Division of Alcohol and Substance Abuse (DASA) contracts with the counties to provide outpatient chemical dependency treatment services to low-income clients who are not eligible for any public assistance program or eligible for the food stamp program only.

  2. Individuals must meet low-income criteria to receive any public funding to help pay for treatment.

  3. Outpatient chemical dependency treatment services to low-income persons are provided on a sliding fee schedule.

  4. In some of the smaller counties, the county agency itself is the provider of outpatient treatment services. In other counties, the county agency contracts with state-certified treatment agencies within the county to provide the services.

  5. Every county has a designated Alcohol and Drug Coordinator who works with DASA and coordinates all services related to outpatient chemical dependency treatment and prevention activities. http://www1.dshs.wa.gov/word/hrsa/dasa/GB/APPNDXA.doc

  6. Public funding through DASA for chemical dependency treatment services can only be provided if the services are received in a county-identified or DASA contracted treatment facility.

Outpatient Treatment

Information on agencies who are contracted to provide outpatient chemical dependency treatment services can be received through the DASA Regional Administrator or by calling the Alcohol/Drug Helpline at 1-800-562-1240.

Residential Treatment

In order to access residential treatment, a person must be eligible for ADATSA, TANF, SSI, GAU. GAX, or a Categorically Needy or Medically Needy Medicaid Program.
