recertification

Revised October 28, 2007

Check CN Eligibility of Entire Family Together

Medically Needy ( MN) Case

Recertification

  • When a client, previously receiving medical assistance applies to be recertified, in some situations a review can be initiated. In some situations a new AU must be screened or a previous AU reopened.

Check CN Eligibility of Entire Family Together

  • Initiate a Review, Option N off of the AMEN can be used on a CN medical case (except for F05 and F02) when a client reapplies.

Medically Needy ( MN) Case

  1. On the AMEN, Option N, Initiate Review, can only be used for MN cases in A status. This is true for medically needy spenddown cases also. Do not screen a new AU for these cases.
  2. A review can be initiated on an active C99, F99, G99, K99, L99, P99, and S99.
  3. When reapplication for medical is made and there is an AU pending spenddown, a review cannot be initiated on the AU that is in M, Pending Spenddown status. In this situation a new AU must be screened for the new base period. This most often occurs because an AU can be pending spenddown up to 30 days after the end of the base period.
  4. If reapplication is made after the AU has been closed or denied then the AU can be reopened. A new assistance unit should not be screened.
