Passwords and Information Required for TARGET Access

For you veteran TARGET users this information is simply “old hat”, but for many the review is helpful and for “new comers” it just might save a lot of confusion!

To access the TARGET application you must first plug in your token.

·        The purple token, a storage device, holds your digital certificate which has been downloaded from DST’s on-line, Retrieve Digital Certificate website.  Do not leave the token plugged into your workstation all the time – only when you are going to be using TARGET – it’s a Client Security issue.

From Transact Washington’s Welcome Page, click the “my Transact Account” link - then, click OK on your valid signing certificate – and then enter your token pass phrase.

·        The token pass phrase, set by you at the time of token configuration, is unknown to anyone but yourself.  It never expires or changes (unless you change it).  If you forget your token pass phrase, or enter the wrong characters more than eight times at the Cryptographic Service Provider window the token will become disabled and you will have to purchase and download a replacement certificate before you can access the TARGET application again.

From the My Transact Account Page (your name identifies it as your own), you’ll click the “DSHS – DASA  TARGET2000” link then, at the Welcome to TARGET, Please Log In Page, you’ll be prompted for your User ID and Password.

·        The TARGET User ID, usually made up of the first five letters of your last name followed by your first and middle initials, is on file here at DASA.  It never expires or changes  (unless arranged with DASA).  If you forget your User ID call the TARGET Help Line at 1-888-461-8898, and they can look it up for you.

·        The TARGET Password, a secure character string made up of letters, numbers and special characters, expires every ninety days and must be changed by you.  If you forget your TARGET password call the Help Line at the number above to have it reset.  Do this before you disable your account by entering the wrong string too many times (six times in a single browser session).  Avoid using the “Windows Remember My Password” feature, it will cause confusion and difficulty when you try to update each ninety days.
