2003 Trend Data for Safety of Children in State Care

• Initiate timely investigations of abuse and neglect reports
• Reduce chronic maltreatment of children (number of families chronically referred to CPS)
• Reduce recurrence of maltreatment (children who are re-abused)
• Monitor the number of cases staffed with community Child Protection Teams

• Increase safety for children placed in licensed care
