I first became intrigued with the foster care system when, as a practicing attorney in California, I began representing children in Dependency Court. Through this pro bono work, I realized the need children had for caring and qualified foster parents as well as the need for commitment and intervention from the various professional fields.

After several years of representing children, my husband and I adopted our first child through the foster-adopt program in California. In the next two years we adopted two more children though the same county program.

Upon our move to Washington State in l998, we were licensed as foster parents again and adopted our fourth child.

It was in l999 that I first began working in the social service arena as a foster home licensor with a private agency. I continued with that very rewarding position for a period of about four years, until starting my current position with the Resource Family Training Institute in January of 2004.

My background includes many years as a teacher and trainer in the legal field, and I am thrilled to now be transferring those skills into a forum where I can meet and train those who I have such a great respect for - foster parents.
