Youth Exiting Foster Care May Still Be Eligible for Medicaid Benefits

In 2007, the Washington State legislature approved the extension of Medicaid benefits for 18 to 21 year olds exiting foster care. If you are the foster parent/caregiver of a youth 18 to 21 years of age, and they were still in placement on July 22, 2007, they may be eligible for the same medical coverage they received while in care. Information including eligibility requirements is available on flyers. Please review, print and share them with youth and other caregivers! Contact the Foster Care MEDS Team at 1-800-547-3109 if you have any questions.
