Announcing the release of “Back On Track”, a film for youth in care

This film is designed to empower youth in care with information about the legal process, available services, and scholarship opportunities.

The script was based on input from focus groups with current and former foster youth, court personnel, CA staff and legal counsel and other child welfare stakeholders.

Topics include the laws that guide child welfare in Washington State, tips on thriving in out-of-home care, permanency planning and the ISSP, the Child Welfare Team, and educational resources for college and/or vocational school.

New Requirements for Notifying Caregivers of Staffings and Court Hearings

Effective July 5, 2006, CA social workers are required to:

  • Notify you within 10-days of a scheduled court hearing regarding the child in your care.
  • Notify you within 48 hours of case staffings regarding the child in your care.

New requirements for licensed and unlicensed caregivers and social workers when a youth is missing from care
On May 1, 2006 there will be new requirements for how caregivers report and respond to youth missing from care. These changes also clarify how social workers respond.
