Assessment(DASA)
Assessment Program Overview:
The assessment defines whether or not an individual has a problem with drugs or alcohol, the severity of the problem, and necessary course of treatment.
Alcohol and Drug Addiction Treatment and Support Act (ADATSA) assessments provide chemical dependency evaluations to individuals who have been incapacitated by drugs and/or alcohol to the point that they are no longer able to maintain employment. ADATSA services include assessment, referral to treatment, case monitoring, and assistance with employment. Financial eligibility is determined by the local Community Service Office.
Assessments are also provided to individuals receiving GAU, TANF, SSI, GAX, and Medicaid at no cost to the client. Note: assessments can be provided at any county outpatient provider as well as most DASA contracted inpatient providers.
For individuals defined as "low income" assessments and treatment are provided on a sliding fee, depending upon the person's income and family size at county contracted providers.
Most Indian Tribes in the State of Washington have certified Chemical Dependency Treatment Programs. If you are an Indian and wish to receive chemical Dependency treatment services at the Tribe, please contact the nearest Tribal program for eligibility determination and assistance. Some Urban Indian Programs also receive allocations to provide outpatient treatment services.
Priority Populations:
- Youth
- Pregnant women
- Parents with dependent children, including Child Protective Service referrals (CPS)
- IV drug users
How to apply for services: Contact your local County contracted provider or DASA residential provider if you are a recipient of SSI, TANF, GAU, GAX, or Medicaid services. If you are unemployed as a result of problems with drugs or alcohol, contact your local ADATSA Assessment Center for assistance in determining eligibility, assessment, and help in accessing treatment.
Native Americans can also receive assessments at most Tribal programs and some Urban Indian providers.
Find a local DSHS office or apply for services on-line or find a DASA certified treatment agency.
