Family Support Services (DDD)

What the program covers: Family Support provides a variety of individual and community services to assist families in caring for their family member in their home, including respite care and therapies. Services are flexible and depend upon the needs of the individual and family. Resources are limited and needed services may not be available.

Who is eligible: DDD eligibility requires that a person meet all of the following conditions as defined in WAC 388-823:

A developmental disability is defined in RCW 71A.10.020(3) and must meet all of the following requirements. The developmental disability must currently:
  1. Be attributable to mental retardation, cerebral palsy, epilepsy, autism, or another neurological or other condition found by DDD to be closely related to mental retardation or requiring treatment similar to that required for individuals with mental retardation;
  2. Originate prior to age eighteen;
  3. Be expected to continue indefinitely; and
  4. Result in substantial limitations to an individual's adaptive functioning.
DDD eligibility may be time limited and subject to review. Contact your nearest DDD office for an intake appointment. The case manager will assist you in obtaining documentation needed to determine whether you are eligible for services from DDD.

Income and Resource Limits: None

Program Requirements: The DDD case manager will do a needs assessment with the family and develop a plan. Services provided are based on the individual's needs.
