Description:

Coordinates the participation of beneficiaries, attorneys, other representatives and witnesses involved in hearing process; Independently analyzes complex difficult claims to make sure correct policies and procedures have been followed; Reviews cases for appropriate up to date documentation; Disability Hearings Officer (DHO) will take testimony, from claimants and their witnesses; taking evidence from representatives; DHO will prepare a reconsideration of cessation determination, based upon the evidence obtained at the hearing, after the hearing and testimony of any witnesses.  The determination will be a finding-of-fact decision to continue or cease disability; DHO will assist DSHS by serving as an expert witness at Medicaid Fair Hearings; May write determinations on cases that have been investigated by Cooperative Disability Investigation Unit (CDIU).
